‘The Difference’ is a local charity that exists to enhance patient care in the Scottish Borders. They work in partnership with healthcare professionals to identify projects that will help Doctors, Nurses and Clinicians enhance the care they provide. The Difference are currently spearheading the development of the Margaret Kerr Palliative Care Unit – a development that Callum’s Trust is committed to supporting.

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. As well as helping with the medical needs of people affected by cancer, Macmillan also looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have, and campaigns for better cancer care. Macmillan Cancer Support’s goal is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer in the UK.
Myeloma UK is the only organisation in the UK dealing exclusively with myeloma. Their range of services cover every aspect of myeloma, from information and support to improving standards of treatment and care through research, education, campaigning and raising awareness.
Friends of the BGH is a Charity aiming to inform and increase public interest in the hospital; and raise funds to enhance the services provided by the BGH for the health, welfare and comfort of patients and staff.
The Basil Skyer Myeloma Foundation offer support to enhance the quality of life of people living with Multiple Myeloma and those who are receiving end of life care within Nottingham University NHS Trust. As well as offering support for individuals and families, The Basil Skyers Myeloma Foundation will also provide resources for organisations that support people living with Multiple Myeloma, and will enter into partnerships with public, private and voluntary sector organisations to raise the profile of Multiple Myeloma.
The Lavender Touch is a Borders charity, which raises funds to help people living in the Scottish Borders who have cancer, by providing complimentary therapies. The charity works in partnership with NHS Borders and has proven very successful and popular with patients, with 99% of those who have used the service feeling the had found it beneficial.
Recycle 4 Charity is a fantastic organisation that take used inkjet cartridges, toners and mobile phones and recycle them. It’s very straightforward:
- The individual or group who send the items in nominate a charity as a benefactor for their collected items
- The money rasied from the recycling goes to that nominated charity… easy!
- As an added bonus – it keeps tons of toners out of landfill sites across the UK
